Profile image of Carol AcworthCarol Acworth lives and works in the Languedoc region of the South of France. A sculptor of rare talent, Carol looks at the humanity and feeling of her subject matter. Although she produces such varied pieces, there is a constant vein of vigour of movement and texture that demands to be touched.
Her work is to be found in many homes in England, Scotland and Wales, including that of Penelope Keith, and in Kuwait, Singapore, Italy, France, New Zealand and the United States. Commissions include a Madonna and Child in Oak, for St Peters Church, P...

"The problem of contemporary sculpture and the garden is one which has rankled in my mind for years. It is usually resolved through a process of inversion-that is turning it into sculpture in the garden as against garden sculpture. By that I mean the sculptor takes over the garden as an open exhibition gallery, of which the focus is their creation, to which the world of nature merely provides the frame. The Idea that sculpture is a contributory element to an overall'mise en scene',in which, sometimes its role may be incedental rather than central, has been lost.In this we have seen the betrayall of the great tradition of garden sculpture, one which was unashamed at being decorative or delightful."

Once again, our buying experience has been absolutely first class – both in our dealings with you and Sarah at Art Parks and with the individual sculptors directly.

As you may remember, we have previously bought sculptures via your website ... [Read more]
