"Luke Shepherds`s bronze portrait sculpture exhibits a clearly recognizable style, capturing the unique strengths and subtle nuances of each sitter. He has skillfully moved beyond his formative years into a mature and sought after bronze portrait sculptor. With early success in both in the Royal Academy, London and the Academie des Beaux-Arts, Paris"
Sculpture: 'Billy Connolly (Bronze life sized Portrait Bust Celebrity sculpture)' by Luke Shepherd
Bronze Portrait Life Sized Commissioned/Custom Bust of the Celebrity Billy Connolly Statue for sale or Commission Modelled in the dressing rooms of the Theatre Royal, Bath over 4 consecutive evenings, by Luke Shepherd with such Skill and Charm
1st edition purchased by John Reid Enterprises and 2nd owned by Billy.
Billy Connolly, known for his long, messy hair, "goatee" beard and lots of bad language in his stand-up show, was born and brought up in Glasgow, Scotland. He left school to work in the shipyards where he became a welder. He developed an interest in folk music, eventually becoming an accomplished banjo player and a member of the band "Humblebums" with Gerry Rafferty (later of "Baker Street" fame). The jokes he told between songs eventually took over his act and he became a full-time Comedian. He is by some considerable margin UK`s Top Comedian.

"The Big Yin put me at ease right from the start. His eccentric and insightful chatter was far too interesting, which made concentrating on the work at hand all the more difficult.".

"The problem of contemporary sculpture and the garden is one which has rankled in my mind for years. It is usually resolved through a process of inversion-that is turning it into sculpture in the garden as against garden sculpture. By that I mean the sculptor takes over the garden as an open exhibition gallery, of which the focus is their creation, to which the world of nature merely provides the frame. The Idea that sculpture is a contributory element to an overall'mise en scene',in which, sometimes its role may be incedental rather than central, has been lost.In this we have seen the betrayall of the great tradition of garden sculpture, one which was unashamed at being decorative or delightful."
