Sculpture description:
Stainless Steel Hanging Contemporary statue, by James Jones.
The design of "Beyond the edge of reason" originates from the Hindu belief of energy centers or "Chakras" within the human body. The "Sahasrara" or "Thousand Petaled Lotus", is used to represent the uppermost Chakra, located at the crown of the head, which is associated with our unity with God. The language and form of the sculpture invites the viewer to contemplate their connection to nature, their beliefs, spirituality and religion.

"The problem of contemporary sculpture and the garden is one which has rankled in my mind for years. It is usually resolved through a process of inversion-that is turning it into sculpture in the garden as against garden sculpture. By that I mean the sculptor takes over the garden as an open exhibition gallery, of which the focus is their creation, to which the world of nature merely provides the frame. The Idea that sculpture is a contributory element to an overall'mise en scene',in which, sometimes its role may be incedental rather than central, has been lost.In this we have seen the betrayall of the great tradition of garden sculpture, one which was unashamed at being decorative or delightful."

Customer comment on 'Egret on Alert (Standing Water Bird Wader sculpture)' by Kenneth Potts
Ken, Peter

Thank you both, and especially of course Ken, for your trouble over the
egret sculpture. I am very glad to say that it is now installed in our
garden, and we are delighted with it. Lucy has decided it should be called
Elgar, in memory of the work you are currently doing, Ken.

I attach a couple of pictures showing Elgar the Egret on his stand and in
his setting above the rockery by the pond.

Regards

Tim, Devizes, Wiltshire, United Kingdom.
