Early, he was carving large female figures from logs of walnut, elm and cladding them in appliqu`s of copper, brass, lead and, in some cases, fine fur and leather. Each figure was a statement about the contemporary style and fashion of the times.

Sculpture description:
This stainless steel fountain is in the front of the Bicentennial Library in Chattanooga Tennessee. This landmark is an indicator of what is inside much the same way 19th Century shop figures indicated what was for sale.
Artist's comments:
This is my largest single sculpture, 12 feet X 22 feet X `10 feet. Completely constructed of stainless steel.
