Profile image of Jim CollinsJim Collins is primarily a sculptor, Jim Collins has been figurative in his art from the beginning. Early, he was carving large female figures from logs of walnut, elm and cladding them in appliqu`s of copper, brass, lead and, in some cases, fine fur and leather. Each figure was a statement about the contemporary style and fashion of the times.
Jim Collins was a Professor of Art at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga until 1983 when he resigned that teaching position to devote full time to his career as a professional artist. His sculpt...

Sculpture description:
A commission for the Number One Fire Station in Plano Texas. A large tribute to the heros of the Fire Department and to its historical mascot. The Dalmatian.
Artist's comments:
This was of particular delight for me because this fire Department had not lost a single firefighter in the past 50 years. Freeing the artist to do something other than a tribute to loss of life.
