Sculpture description:
Hand Carved Stone Recumbent, Dozing, Sleeping, Prostrait, Lying Lion after Canova statuette or Stone Carving Resting Lion sculpture a tribute to CanovaT. The lion is Sated, by the remarkable Thomas Brown The Lion`s belly is full and round, and he Rests, gently licking his paws clean after hunting and devouring his prey. The animal`s immense strength, even in this passive pose, is conveyed through the powerful musculature and elegant anatomy. The coiling vitality of the mane expresses the awesome potential energy held within the creature`s recumbent frame.
Artist's comments:
The piece is worked traditionally with only hand tools. Carved in hard French Lime stone with rich warm veining running throughout. I aim to carve a partner for this piece, a ravenous lion, preparing to leap from its plinth and pounce upon its prey.

Dear Wenqin, Your Piece (Infinity Curve 1) arrived today. Sue and I are very pleased. It is better in person than the photographs. Frank
