Profile image of Lynn MahoneyLynn Mahoney`s sculpture is constructed with a steel armature for big work then clad in beaten and treated copper sheet, the copper is good to use it colours beautifully lending itself well to the outdoors as the surface of the form evolves over time. The forms produced are quite varied pots, botanical, animals generally full size animals and large tall pots.

Sculpture description:
Copper tree beautifully sways in the wind She catches the subtleties and nuances of her subjects with unerring accuracy, as she does with all her highly successful animal, bird and wild life sculptures in this particularly difficult medium of copper. Have a look at some of her other garden sculptures of birds.... Eagle Owl, Ostrich, Small copper birds, or her insect sculptures.. Beetle Butterfly, Dragonfly, Large Dragonfly, Spider, or other animal sculpture for beside the pool, the pond or around the garden Antelope, Fish, Otters, Snail, Armadillo, the little pig.

I was inspired to make this tree after my husband played me a piece of music from an old children`s program called the singing ringing tree.

"The problem of contemporary sculpture and the garden is one which has rankled in my mind for years. It is usually resolved through a process of inversion-that is turning it into sculpture in the garden as against garden sculpture. By that I mean the sculptor takes over the garden as an open exhibition gallery, of which the focus is their creation, to which the world of nature merely provides the frame.The Idea that sculpture is a contributory element to an overall'mise en scene',in which, sometimes its role may be incedental rather than central, has been lost.In this we have seen the betrayall of the great tradition of garden sculpture, one which was unashamed at being decorative or delightful."
