Sculpture description:
Carved in sandstone, this sculpture was part of an exhibition at Glyndebourne Festival Opera. The sculpture takes the familiar theme in opera, of pairs of lovers. Each character is in love with someone else and following the direction of the eyes, suggests the progress of the unrequited love.
Artist's comments:
This carving in sandstone was shown at Glyndebourne Festival Opera. I was given the programme of operas for the season and invited to create an exhibition based on those operas. For a memorable few months I chipped away at the stone while listening to the operas for inspiration.
