David Gross works with wind-felled trees, wood from managed forests, and salvaged timbers with holes and markings that hint at its history. When he`s working wood, he is simultaneously looking for new ways of using it, while researching how it was used historically. Sculpture: 'Greenman Gate1 (Carved Wood Gate Bas Relief Mythical Traditional Face)' by David Gross
Carved Wood Green Man Low Relief or Bas Relief traditional Man`s Face on pointed Arched Oak Gate with a carving of a greenman. By The Artist Wood Carver David Gross. Carved Greenman Gate, or Hand Carved Wood Greenman Small Door, the Sculptor David Gross is Mentaining the Traditional Sculpting Art.
I made these two gates because I wanted to experiment with an idea for a technique to make framed panels. The pointed arch is inspired by all the eclesiastical settings I`ve been working in recently. I made the two as gates, but they could be used as Large Cupboard dDors, or as a Screen or Room Devider.

"I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately,
to front only the essential facts of life
and see if I could not learn what it had to teach,
and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived." Thoreau
Hi Liliya, Rainbow 1 arrived today. I can`t describe my delight, it is so truly awesome, where did you ever find such a piece of wood, and you are so skilled, creating such a unique piece. I`m not worried about the crack, it`s natural, and part of its beauty. This will be a privilege to own, and will last for so many lifetimes. Kind regards,
Mr A. Chalmers, Suffolk, United Kingdom.
