Profile image of Sandra BorgesSandra later work is a result form her reflection about human relations. Sometimes looking through the stereotypes and sometimes through the eyes of a individual, it is always about how one personality is form and how one relates to the other and to other in society.
Working only with Portuguese stone (marbles, limestone`s and breccia), she also mix it with other media if the idea demands it. The result is very personal way to make art objects that link the tradition of stone carving with other materials and plastic languages.

Sculpture description:
Sculpture made for the Loures municipality in the context of the "O Bairro i o Mundo" festival, at Quinta da Fonte, Loures, Portugal.
Artist's comments:
Taking in account the theme of the festival on which the work was made, this piece is titled ?Bring a friend along?. There is a tendency to think the neighbourhoods as abstract entities, forgetting that these communities are formed and identified by the individuals that make it so. So, the artist invited all that were interested to make their hands on her sculpture ? leaving a unique mark on a permanent support ? which created a texture that is the weaving of the social pattern of this neighbourhood.

"The problem of contemporary sculpture and the garden is one which has rankled in my mind for years. It is usually resolved through a process of inversion-that is turning it into sculpture in the garden as against garden sculpture. By that I mean the sculptor takes over the garden as an open exhibition gallery, of which the focus is their creation, to which the world of nature merely provides the frame. The Idea that sculpture is a contributory element to an overall'mise en scene',in which, sometimes its role may be incedental rather than central, has been lost.In this we have seen the betrayall of the great tradition of garden sculpture, one which was unashamed at being decorative or delightful."
