Sculpture description:
Bronze Minimalist Contemporary/Abstract Simplified Lyre Bird sculpture/statue/statuette/figurine for sale by Simon Gudgeon, who writes... "The Lyrebird gets its name from the male bird, which has a spectacular tail resembling a lyre. I translated the fundamental qualities and shape of the tail to take it from a purely representational form to a more abstract one. The clean lines and proportions suggest the bird?s plumage, while allowing viewers to interpret the sculpture as they wish. Producing a more conceptual sculpture allows me the freedom to explore shape and movement as well as encapsulate vitality and emotion in my work.

"I say that the art of sculpture is eight times as great as any other art based on drawing, because a statue has eight views and they must all be equally well made."

Customer comment on 'Little Owl (Small Carved Wood on Post carvings/statues/statuettes)' by Nigel Sardeson
Hi Thank you for providing me with such a great service and wonderful sculpture … I can say more.... It`s a present for my fathers 80th and the perfect thing to have found for someone who already has most things! He`s an ornithologist too and adores the garden. We have bought it as a family and Nigel engraved our family crest on to it and went out of his way to deliver it to us saving us a fortune! It`s so heavy! I would be delighted if you used my comments! Thanks ... [Read more]
