F.E. McWilliam, was a surrealist Sculptor and a contemporary and friend of Henry Moore. McWilliam made his name in London and established a reputation as one of the most important sculptors of his generation.
He was born in Banbridge N.Ireland in 1909 which is the same place where Mulligan was also born and grew up. As a tribute and homage to his favourite sculptor, Mulligan effectively combines his carved `fluted and `cut` forms with the noticeable fluid and surrealist forms found within Mc William`s surrealist work work.

"In a way the visual components of this work make up the way I want to make sculpture; playful, with a twisty of surrealist and zen philosophy!"
