Profile image of Francois ViljoenFrancois Viljoen is a South African born artist, now lives in the south west part of Baden Württemberg, Germany. In many ways arts influenced and marked his life from the start. He was in a only Academic+Sport school with no art classes, This was quite frustrating, but then the creative process, esp. drawing, became a passion and big interest in his teenage years, following a long, weekly TV series called, "Quest for Romanticism". Sculpture description:
Little Praying Mantis&Bowl sculpture,
Preying Mantis Hunting statue for sale for Indoors inside Interior use by the Gifted and Original Sculptor Francois Viljoen who writes....
"The Praying Mantis name comes from the typical "prayer-like" posture with folded fore-limbs, although the Eggcorn "preying mantis" is sometimes used in reference to their predatory habits. The insect order contains over 2400 species and 430 genera.
For me, the Mantis is a very secretive creature and fascinated me from childhood and for me, a strong symbol, and metaphor, of peacefulness, quietness, inner tranquillity and strength. The Greek word "mantis" means "prophet".
From where I come from in South Africa, the Kalahari Bushmen has got very strong beliefs regarding the Mantis and in ancient China the Mantis has strong symbolic meaning and features in many folk tales. To them it represents "strength, courage and boldness".

Customer comment on 'When I saw you (Woman In Hat Head Bust statue sculpture)' by Kay Singla
Dear Peter

Just to say how thrilled and delighted we are with our recent sculpture purchased through Art Parks online – “When I Saw You” by Kay Singla (a truly gifted artist and wonderful person).

Once again, our buying experience has been absolutely first class – both in our dealings with you and Sarah at Art Parks and with the individual sculptors directly.

As you may remember, we have previously bought sculptures via your website ... [Read more]
