"I have always had a strong connection with the abstract form. Having grown up surrounded by mostly abstract contemporary art in Belgium and a couple of decades later having studied the language of form, and more specifically abstract form, at a local studio for several years, my sculptural language is purely abstract." Born and brought up in Belgium, Rosemarie moved to England to study in 1975. She came to sculpture from teaching - French, German and Art - and then working as a freelance translator in the specialist fields of Art and Education...
Sculpture: 'White abstract Free Form (2) (Modern sculptures)' by Rosemarie Powell
Contemporary Ceramic statue, Modern Abstract Contemporary Ceramic Complex Form sculpture statue for sale for Indoors Inside Interior Decoration by the International Sculptor Rosemarie Powell who writes.... "This sculpture is one of my `form-finding` pieces, which come about without pre-planning; I start from the saddle plane and let the form find itself, as I work. The gesture, the movement finds itself. I do not fix these forms on a base so they can be placed in different positions, as per the images below. They look very different in each different position.
I refrain from giving these ceramic sculptures a title as I prefer the viewer to find their own connection with it and perhaps come to name it themselves. With reference to the `form-finding` in the Description/Notes above, and to paraphrase Morton Feldman (re. his `Patterns in a Chromatic Field`) : I feel that I listen to my forms, and I do what they tell me, not what I tell them. Because I owe my life to these forms.

Hi Liliya, Rainbow 1 arrived today. I can`t describe my delight, it is so truly awesome, where did you ever find such a piece of wood, and you are so skilled, creating such a unique piece. I`m not worried about the crack, it`s natural, and part of its beauty. This will be a privilege to own, and will last for so many lifetimes. Kind regards,
Mr A. Chalmers, Suffolk, United Kingdom.
