Nick Mackman is an award winning sculptor of ceramic and bronze animal sculptures. She has been widely exhibited and in 2015 won the David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation (DSWF) Wildlife Artist of the Year competition. She was Overall Runner-up and Go Wild Category Winner in 2012 and won the Open Category in 2010.
Most of Nickís animal sculptures are Raku fired, giving a rich but natural looking crackle glaze. She aims to get under the skin of the animal, giving each animal sculpture its own personality. Many of her subjects are highly endangere...
Sculpture: 'Lying Hare (Sitting Lying Resting Hare figurines)' by Nick Mackman
Hare in Bronze resin limited edition sculpture statuette statue for sale featuring a hare in a lying position. Nick closely observes her subjects in the field and studies them in great detail to ensure her models accurately and convincingly convey the grace, beauty and character of the animals she models.
A sculpture cast in bronze resin has a similar look and feel to traditional bronze, with its distinctive burnished finish, and shows amazing detail. It is also significantly more affordable than the traditional method of casting and hand finishing molten metal, which is a very expensive and time consuming process. They are meticulously modelled and I monitor the production process very carefully to ensure they meet my exacting standards. I have to say Iím delighted with the results and Iím very pleased to be able to offer my clients a relatively affordable introduction into the world of bronze animal sculptures.

"The problem of contemporary sculpture and the garden is one which has rankled in my mind for years. It is usually resolved through a process of inversion-that is turning it into sculpture in the garden as against garden sculpture. By that I mean the sculptor takes over the garden as an open exhibition gallery, of which the focus is their creation, to which the world of nature merely provides the frame. The Idea that sculpture is a contributory element to an overall'mise en scene',in which, sometimes its role may be incedental rather than central, has been lost.In this we have seen the betrayall of the great tradition of garden sculpture, one which was unashamed at being decorative or delightful."
