Profile image of Deon DuncanDeon has a graduate degree from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago in painting and post-modern critical theory. Seven years ago she happened to have an unexpected opportunity to sculpt from the figure, and had the epiphany of her life. Prior to that she had spent twenty-five years working as a painter but never felt the spark, the most important and potent ingredient for passion. She knew within the week that she was a born sculptor. This was what her talent was made for, and she had found it. Her enthusiasm to learn boarded on the ob...

Sculpture description:
Swim Series II is a sculpture that represents a swimmer in a wetsuit either stretching out his shoulder muscles or resting in contemplation. He sits atop a long square pillar, or post.
Artist's comments:
Swim Series II is a sculpture that surprised me when I made it, as I was intending it to be something other than what it is, but it kept pushing me to making it what it is. Sometimes I feel like the artist has no control over what is sculpted and that once the form takes shape, the shape demands the narrative. It also happens to be one of my favorite sculptures.

Customer comment on 'Brasil - Chess (Corporate Commission of an entire edition)' by Plamen Dimitrov
Although it seemed a daunting project to commission a sculpture on the internet with a tight deadline, Plamen Dimitrov in Bulgaria made it as easy as possible for me in Brazil by producing a series of little clay sketches after each email and sending photos it seemed by return. He worked round the clock and was incredibly intuitive with his understanding of what I wanted. This was despite an 8 hour time difference and having poor English as our common language. He w...
