Profile image of Richard AustinRichard Austin seems to be able to turn his hand to practically anything sculptural though his particular strengths are his popular Caricature Portrait Busts exemplified here with `some he did earlier` of well known personalities.
Have one done of your self you will enjoy the result.
On a more serious note he is much in demand as a restorer or conservator of broken or damaged sculpture

"The problem of contemporary sculpture and the garden is one which has rankled in my mind for years. It is usually resolved through a process of inversion-that is turning it into sculpture in the garden as against garden sculpture. By that I mean the sculptor takes over the garden as an open exhibition gallery, of which the focus is their creation, to which the world of nature merely provides the frame. The Idea that sculpture is a contributory element to an overall'mise en scene',in which, sometimes its role may be incedental rather than central, has been lost.In this we have seen the betrayall of the great tradition of garden sculpture, one which was unashamed at being decorative or delightful."

Customer comment on 'Little Owl (Small Carved Wood on Post carvings/statues/statuettes)' by Nigel Sardeson
Hi

Thank you for providing me with such a great service and wonderful sculpture …

I can say more....

It`s a present for my fathers 80th and the perfect thing to have found for someone who already has most things! He`s an ornithologist too and adores the garden. We have bought it as a family and Nigel engraved our family crest on to it and went out of his way to deliver it to us saving us a fortune! It`s so heavy!
