Dragon Upright Chinese or Oriental Small Bronze Limited Edition statuette sculpture for sale for Indoors Inside Interior Decoration by the Multi talented Sculptress Kathleen Friedenberg, who writes.... " In the Orient, Dragons are considered to be lucky, not threatening. This one was modelled on a traditional Oriental-style beast. It is piped as a Water Feature Fountain, and will spit water if attached to a pump.
During our travels in Asia, we encountered many images of dragons, and I found them artistically intriguing. Unfortunately, I was unable to locate any books on dragon anatomy, so had to study the subject via other artists` work. As I do most of the refinishing of the wax and metal, in the casting process, the thought of reworking all those scales was rather daunting. Fortunately, little of that was necessary.

"The problem of contemporary sculpture and the garden is one which has rankled in my mind for years. It is usually resolved through a process of inversion-that is turning it into sculpture in the garden as against garden sculpture. By that I mean the sculptor takes over the garden as an open exhibition gallery, of which the focus is their creation, to which the world of nature merely provides the frame. The Idea that sculpture is a contributory element to an overall'mise en scene',in which, sometimes its role may be incedental rather than central, has been lost.In this we have seen the betrayall of the great tradition of garden sculpture, one which was unashamed at being decorative or delightful." I must say I am thrilled with my `Goose Girl` by Lucy Poett. It looks charming in my garden and is greatly admired. I will indeed have a look on your web page and see if I can be tempted again ! ! Kind Regards
