Profile image of Simon Burns-CoxSimon Burns-Cox has been a professional Sculptor and Letter Carver since 1997 working primarily in Stone and Marble and is based at The Edinburgh Sculpture Workshop which is an International Centre for Sculptors in Edinburgh, Scotland. Simon was born in 1962 in Sussex. He trained formally in Stone Carving in the UK and then went to live in Rome, Italy where he spent nearly four years learning the skills and techniques of Marble Sculpture from Italian craftsmen and artisans. Although it seemed a daunting project to commission a sculpture on the internet with a tight deadline, Plamen Dimitrov in Bulgaria made it as easy as possible for me in Brazil by producing a series of little clay sketches after each email and sending photos it seemed by return.
