'Egyptian Pharaoh Akhenaton (Kings Bust 0r Head statue)' by David Buck
Description: Egyptian Pharaoh `Akhenaton` came to the throne when the Egyptian empire was at the height of power and splendour. He would reign for 17 years. During his reign his attentions were focused on religious reform. He was determined to restore the kingship to the exalted position it had in the days of the old kingdom. To do this, he had to displace the clergy, and to displace the clergy would mean he had to destroy the gods served by the clergy. He tried to overthrow the polytheistic accretion of centuries gone, and in particular to replace the worship of`amun/amen` with the worship of `aton`-conceived as a single, universal god, the source of all life, and represented by the sun-disc. He claimed that the gods that were being worshiped were merely creations from artists hands and that his god- the one god to be worshiped was of spirit.
'Egyptian Winged Scarab Ankh (Symbolic Rebirth statuette)' by David Buck
Description: Ankh Winged Scarab Little sculpture for sale for Indoors Inside On the Wall by the Remarkable David Buck who writes,,, "This sculpture is designed to be used as a wall mount.
"The Ankh was the Ancient Egyptians symbol of life. It is often shown being offered to the `kings lips` as a symbol of the `breath of life`. Shown with the winged scarab symbolizing rebirth, beacause like the dung beetle rolling its ball before it, represents the sun being pushed over the horizon every morning.
Over time the Ankh has come to symbolize life and immortality, the universe, power and life-giving air and water. Its keylike shape also encouraged the belief it could unlock the gates of death.
